Small YouTube channels account for the vast bulk of all channels on the platform. Only about a quarter of all channels have more than 100 subscribers.

So you’re not alone if you have a little YouTube channel!

Unfortunately, this makes it difficult for you to expand your channel. The most difficult part of your journey will be gaining your first 1,000 subscribers.

THE WORKINGS OF YOUTUBE

Let me give you a quick rundown of how YouTube works.

Every video you watch on YouTube is recorded!

The content, title, description, and video transcript are all used to classify and categorise each video. (YouTube automatically transcribes every video using AI voice recognition technology.)

Each video is divided into two categories. There are two types of interest: long-term and short-term. What are your general interests? And, right now, what do you want to watch?

When you go to the YouTube homepage, what happens? YouTube will show you a combination of videos based on your long- and short-term interests.

If you don’t have an account, YouTube will show you the most popular videos on the platform.

Because YouTube doesn’t know what you’re currently interested in if you have an account but haven’t signed in in a long time, it will offer videos based on your own top 10 video subjects from the past.

Everything changes once you start searching for and watching videos. YouTube will now prioritise subjects depending on the videos you’ve recently watched.

This is something we’ve all gone through. You start viewing one video, YouTube suggests another, and before you know it, you’ve binge-watched all of them.

That isn’t a coincidence!

The primary purpose of YouTube is to keep you on the platform for as long as possible. The longer you stay and watch, the better your experience will be, and the more likely you will return tomorrow.

Above all, the more you view, the more commercials you see, and the more money YouTube makes.

Isn’t that correct?!

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR FRIENDS ON YOUTUBE TO LIKE YOU?

It’s simple to play YouTube’s game now that you know what they want.

If you know how to push the proper buttons, you can help YouTube generate more money and YouTube will help you develop your channel.

Here’s what you’re aiming for:

GET AS MANY PEOPLE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS THROUGH TO THE END AS POSSIBLE.

If someone starts watching one of your videos and then clicks on another video a few seconds later, YouTube will assume that your video isn’t fascinating or entertaining enough and will cease recommending it to others in the future.

That’s not what we want!

GET PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON YOUTUBE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEO.

Consider yourself a nightclub promoter who brings in paying guests.

The club owner will adore you if you’re performing a fantastic job. Especially if your guests stay for an extended period of time and order multiple rounds of shots.

You market your own videos outside of YouTube, which is the YouTube equivalent of this scenario. People go to your website and click on your link. It’s your video that they see first. They become addicted and continue to watch videos.

YOU GET PEOPLE TO SHARE YOUR VIDEO WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

They will also watch your video, continue to watch additional videos, and share your video.

This is how viral videos function at their core!

Let’s take a quick look at why people share content on social media before I teach you how to persuade people to share more of your videos now that you have a better understanding of how YouTube works and what you need to do to garner their favour.

GETTING MORE SHARES FOR YOUR YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN A “SHORT CUT”

YouTube subscribers, views, comments, and viewing time can all be purchased. You may, of course, purchase shares for your videos as well!

Well, I strongly advise you to avoid it! You’re not helping yourself since, at the end of the day, inflating share statistics artificially doesn’t assist YouTube’s algorithm better comprehend your channel.

Instead, YouTube sees those “false sharers” as a group of potential viewers who want to see your films.

YouTube, on the other hand, has no idea who to promote your work to because “those false viewers” are just random folks from all over the world. And if you keep getting incongruent random shares like this, YouTube’s AI will eventually notice.

Your channel would be unable to expand in the long run, and it would be difficult to monetize it at all!

Instead, I recommend that you put in the effort and grow your YouTube channel using genuine YouTube shares.

HOW TO MAKE VIDEOS THAT GET REALLY SHARED ON YOUTUBE

You may have observed that there are a few techniques to increase YouTube’s like of you.

Today, we’ll look at ways to develop material that people will want to share with their friends and coworkers.

The more people who share your videos, the less work you have to do to get people to watch them.

How do you go about doing it?

Some believe it all boils down to having a high-end camera and editing skills.

The opposite could not be further from the truth!

That’s fantastic news for you. You do not need to purchase a new camera!

All you need is a thorough grasp of your audience, who they are, what they care about, and what they require, as well as a little bit of imagination, to produce something great that they will want to watch and share with their friends!

To be able to achieve this, you must first comprehend why people share. I published an entire essay on it, including the top 21 reasons why people share stuff on social media.

PLANNING FOR SHAREABILITY IN YOUR VIDEOS

Think of a reason why someone in your audience might want to share your next video before you start filming or creating your video script!

When a viewer shares a Facebook post or WhatsApp message with their pals, what would they write as the caption?

DISCOVER WHY PEOPLE SHARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH THEIR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COWORKERS.

It’s critical to comprehend why someone in your audience might desire to share one of your films with others.

The first aspect focuses on the individual viewer. Some people use sharing as a substitute for bookmarking, while others see it as a form of self-expression, particularly when a video expresses how they feel or wish to feel.

For numerous reasons, the second part of sharing is all about developing relationships with family, friends, and coworkers. We all experience obstacles in life, and one of the simplest ways to demonstrate compassion for someone in this position is to send them an instructional film that addresses one of their current issues.

It doesn’t always have to be educational; an information-heavy film can be a useful addition when it transforms fear and worry into clarity and comprehension.

Sharing a humorous cat video might sometimes be all it takes to make someone’s day.

The third group aspires to influence public opinion. It could be for a specific cause, a greater good, or even a political campaign.

The fourth group is all about personal branding and self-expression. They mostly share because they want others to perceive them in a certain light as a result of the stuff they post.

WRITE A ONE-SENTENCE PITCH FOR WHY YOU SHOULD SHARE YOUR VIDEO.

Figure out why someone might want to share your next video before you start writing the script. Rather than coming up with random ideas, focus on creating movies that people will want to share with their friends. In one line, try to capture the core of your film and explain what it’s about and why someone would want to watch it.

It’s critical that you keep your response to one sentence!

Why? Because if it takes you 10 sentences to explain the substance of your film, it will probably take your viewers 20 to 30 sentences if they aren’t as familiar with the topic as you are.

And, let’s face it, how many people will take the time to create a lengthy video caption? And how many people would bother to read it in the first place?

There aren’t many, that’s how many!

If you can convey the value of watching your movie in a single statement using simple and exact language, your viewers will get it immediately. And that they’ll be able to express it in just a few phrases to someone else.

That is, your videos will have a lot more views, and YouTube will love you and recommend your video to a lot more people.

WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE SHARING VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE

WRITE YOUR VIDEO SCRIPT FOR YOUTUBE

The next step is to draught your script’s outline, or a more extensive version if you choose.

What you want to concentrate on is sowing the correct seeds within your video that will lead viewers to share your movie with their family, friends, and coworkers.

For how-to-focus videos, the following recipe works best.

Start your video by stating who your video is for and what difficulty your video is solving within the first 10 to 30 seconds.

This serves two purposes. First, it helps the viewer to rapidly determine whether or not this is appropriate for them. Is it worth my time to watch this? You must strike one or two targets; it must be valuable to them individually or to someone they know.

Second, it must address a problem or desire that the viewer or one of his or her friends is experiencing.

They will be more committed to viewing your film till the finish if they identify with both.

Structure your video in such a way that the big secret is revealed at the conclusion. They’ve already committed to much of the video by the time they get to the solution, and they’re more than likely to watch your call to action.

A STRONG CALL TO ACTION SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

You must include a compelling call to action at the end of your video.

You should remind viewers who this video is for and who else it might be able to assist. This will jog the audience’s memory and prompt them to think of someone who meets your description.

The next step is to invite your visitors to interact with your video. Make your intentions clear. Tell them how they’re intended to distribute this information. Consider the following scenario: “Please share the link to my video with anyone you know who is currently dealing with X. I want to assist as many individuals as I can.”

Remind them of some similar, upcoming videos to give them another reason to subscribe to your channel.

Make sure to set aside some time when filming your video based on your script to work on your call to action.

This is a critical component of your video’s success and the growth of your YouTube channel.

I propose making a cheat sheet with your call-to-action on it and bringing it with you to the shoot.

WHILE EDITING YOUR VIDEOS, ADD A CALL-TO-ACTION OVERLAY

You should make a couple of overlays during the editing process to reinforce your message.

When you’re talking about why people should subscribe to your channel, add an animated subscribe button to the top of your video. When discussing how to share your video, include social network icons.

If you describe a specific character who may face the same problem, you may want to include some b-roll displaying representations of these groups to get your viewers to think about whether they know someone who matches the profile.

CONCLUSION

If you want to quickly expand your little YouTube channel, you must first learn how YouTube operates and what their major motivation is.

You may connect your aims with theirs and create a win-win situation if you grasp their objectives.

Make sure you know who your target audience is and why they would share your films.

Before you start writing your video script, think about how you’ll share it. Then, throughout your video, plan different calls to action. Remind your audience who this video is intended to assist and what problem you’re attempting to solve.

Finally, include a strong call to action, asking them to share your video with a specific person.
